Why choose our formicaria?

Our nests are designed with the needs of ants in mind, providing them with adequate space to live, breed and store food. By supplying the right nest, you can provide your colony with a healthy and stable environment that encourages their natural behaviour and well-being.

Our range includes both large and small nests, made of different materials and designed for different ant species. You can also extend them with a suitable arena for ants to observe your colony

3D nests

A state-of-the-art solution using 3D printing technology to create complex and modular structures that can be adapted to the growing needs of the colony. Thanks to the tremendous freedom in the construction of the 3D printed nests, we were able to prepare different variants for the different environmental requirements of the ants. These nests will work well for all varieties of ants from the Camponotus family, such as Camponotus nicobarensis, Camponotus japonicus or our native Formica fusca.

Ground nests

Ideal for species that build nests in the ground under natural conditions. These nests mimic the natural environment of ants, encouraging them to dig tunnels and chambers. These nests are ideal for native species such as Lasius niger or Lasius flavus. It will also not be disdained by such popular ants as Messor barbarus.

Cork nests

Cork nests are made for dendrophilous species such as Camponotus ligniperda, Camponotus fedtschnekoi or Crematogaster scutellaris. Their special feature is the ‘grow with the colony’ principle. Thanks to this soft material, we were able to create the first chamber for the fledgling colony, and the ants will gnaw through the accesses to subsequent chambers as they grow. In a cork formicarium, it is also much easier to achieve stable nest humidity.

How do I choose the right nest?

Choosing the right nest depends on a number of factors, such as the species of ants, the size of the colony and your preferences for observing and interacting with the ants. It is important to choose a nest that provides enough space for a growing colony and that suits the specific environmental requirements of your chosen ants.
