Ant species from Europe

Our category includes a wide selection of ant species from all corners of Europe. From the well-known and easy-to-breed Lasius niger (garden ant), to more challenging and less common species such as Messor barbarus (harvester ant) or Camponotus ligniperda. An interesting specimen for the slightly more experienced is Manica rubida, also known as the red ant, which is characterised by its aggressive behaviour and strong sting, making it interesting but demanding to breed.

Breeding European ants is a great way to start the adventure of breeding ants, as it is forgiving of any mistakes that often accompany the process of learning and gaining experience in caring for these small creatures. In addition, the possible loss of a colony does not ruin your pocket. European ant species, thanks to their availability and diversity, are an excellent start to the ant farming hobby!
