Ants for beginners is a section where you will find species that do not require reheating, are not venomous and have no specific requirements in terms of humidity or food intake. Anyone wishing to start their ant-breeding adventure will find something here.

For those who already have their first colonies, we have prepared a section with ants for the discerning. Here you will find colonies that already present the first challenges to the breeder. There are venomous ants, ants that require specific formicaria, the right humidity or specific foods. Remember, however, that there are no difficult ants, it is all a matter of being properly educated about the ant species in question beforehand.

Breeding ants from all over the world

You will also find ants from different parts of the world in our shop. Such as our native ants from Europe. Some species require overwintering in a fridge or cool cellar, others are awe-inspiring and can shock with their colour or size.

Ants originating from Asia are also becoming increasingly popular. Thanks to the natural warmth of the world, these ants mostly do not require overwintering, making them a tasty morsel for breeders. No householder wants to stumble upon ants in the fridge while reaching for yoghurt. Asia is the region offering the largest cross-section of species, types and dispositions. There are mild ants and venomous ants. And there are also spider ants, which are unique in every way.

For those with a heating mat or heating cable, the section on ants from Africa will be an interesting challenge. There you will find ants that need formicaria with low humidity and high temperatures. They will repay you with an amazing rate of colony growth.

Breeding ant species

Among the ants for beginners, the most popular ant that is easy to breed is Messor barbarus. It is characterised by feeding mainly on grains, making it very convenient for those who like to go on long holidays.

Another simple species to breed is Camponotus nicobarensis. It is a beautiful large ant with a brownish-yellow colour. It is a species that forgives breeding mistakes, does not require overwintering and is very fast growing.

For those looking for a myrmecological challenge, we have species for the discerning, such as Polyrhachis dives. This is a unique species that we keep in a vivarium or terrarium. These ants make beautiful spider nests thanks to the yarn produced by the larvae. Polyrhachis dives ants can have more than one queen in a colony.

A species for the experienced can also be Camponotus maculatus from Africa. It is a beautiful large ant that grows very quickly. It requires large amounts of protein and reheating of the colony up to 30 degrees.

Guaranteed live delivery

With our shop, you don’t have to worry about anything happening. Our packages are prepared in a safe way. The ants will come to you in what is known as First Step, which is a tube with water and space for the ants. Each colony is protected with plenty of bubble wrap, making even the worst courier fearless.

All our parcels are delivered to the parcel machine by Mrówson himself in the early hours of the morning. This means that they will start their journey to you the same day. For the same reason, we do not ship ants on Fridays. All for the sake of the ants’ health.

During the winter, when the temperature drops below 0 degrees, we take responsibility and include a HeatPack in the parcel at our own expense, which keeps the parcel at a safe temperature for the duration of transport.

Even despite the best procedures and policies, sometimes things can happen along the way. Don’t stress – we will send a new package 100% at our own expense.
